Baby sitting.. Literally.

Quick vent session, Won't take long.

So when I got Wembley he was originally supposed to be a support && therapy dog for me.

Life got in the way && he didn't get the proper training && we all know how he turned out Hell he needs more support and therapy more then any dog I know, but I digress.

So Although Wembley didn't end up getting training I have always prided him on how great he is with babies. During this pregnancy with Colt Wembley made it clear that this is his baby && no one is to ever harm him (he also was very wonderful to me helping me off the couch && up the stairs). Except the other day he had what I like to call a "Dane moment"

Dane Moment: When your dogs brain craps out && he is on auto pilot AKA not paying attention to his surrounds && pretending he is the same size as Aurora (my MUCH smaller dog by like 70lbs)

Now he has had these moments before many of times, But this time he really scared me.

He jumped up on the couch where our less then a month old baby is sitting in his boppy && attempted to sit down (until he quickly realized that the baby was there && heard me scream at him)

Uggh I know what everyone is thinking and firstly the baby is complete fine because Wembley didn't actually sit down. But it was scary for me. I yelled at my dog and gave him a spank on the butt (Yes I spank my children furry or not when they are bad) && kicked him out of the living room for a little bit.

But the most surprising thing was when he came back into the living room he simply laid his head next to the baby, gave him a kiss && let out a few whines.

I guess I just wanted to tell this story from the other day because although my dog is WONDERFUL with children && babies even he can make mistakes. Also he felt awful about it all day. && I wanted to let other moms know that you can't fly off the handle when things like this happen even though we are very quick to do so especially when we think our babies are hurt. Babies are super resilient my 140lbs great dane almost sitting on him barely phased Colt who is about 7lbs now.

This is how Wembley usually is with my children.
