Moms has this happened to you, Close your eyes && Picture yourself sitting on the toilet going to the bathroom alone. The most peaceful 3 seconds of your life. Its almost like mediation. Its Serene && Peaceful, Most importantly there are no children asking you for snacks no dogs crying at your feet. THEN BAM you have become a magician because you open your eyes to wipe && finish your "Alone time" && they have all magically appeared.
Yeah girl, I've been there too still there Every.Single.Morning. && You're probably getting super excited thinking Yes Chelsea is going to tell me how to get my kids out of the bathroom!, Sadly no ladies. I'm an HONEST mom, not a miracle worker.
This post is about how I turned my porch into my space. Its not much but there is a beautiful dead bolt lock on both doors. Its a haven for me now. So unless you get yourself a dead bolt lock for the inside of your bathroom that three seconds of happiness ain't going to happen. BUT if you have a nook or a cranny of your house that will fit a chair and maybe a plant or two I can help you out!
This is my Ugly porch with disgusting carpet before I made it my space.
It has such potential with all the natural light, There is literally a wall of windows guys, you would think it wouldn't feel like a depressing cave but the previous owners somehow found a way to make it happen. This was our catch all or mudroom && with my OCD is gave my anxiety. I HATED everything about it.
(This was what it looked like when we moved in now add 700 pairs of shoes, a couch, && much more random crap)
Now All I did was Clean it up, Paint it, && Put in a new floor. It amazes me how small quick alterations can completely transform a space.
Here's my space now.
&& Of course it wouldn't be complete without a kid crashing the photos. In this case two My sweet babies Ethel (Duck in the box) && Wembley (Who has officially stolen the chair/reading nook)
Moral of the story for my mama friends, Always find a get away in your house to hide from your children, Alone time even if a few minutes is super important for our self care. We don't get to take breaks from being a mom, like everyone else gets a break from their job. REMEMBER TO TAKE YOUR BREAK && DON'T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT!!
